TAS Season 2 Episode 5
Air Date: October 15th, 1974
Plot
An alien probe enters Sol, Earth's solar system and probes the planet and self destructs. The Enterprise is tasked to track down where the probe came from. Following it's trail they encounter a ship that puts the Enterprise in an impervious bubble and attacks. It then appears as a hologram of a giant dragon, much like the ones you see in Chinese new year parades. The helmsman Ensign Walkingbear recognizes it as Kukulkan, a mayan god.
Saying Kukulkan's name made the enemy ship reveal itself as the actual Kukulkan and that humans failed him and have one last chance. He transports Kirk, Walkingbear, McCoy and Scotty into a world that mixes many of the human cultures. There are Egyptian scuptures, Japanese archways, Mayan pyramids. Kirk concludes that each of Earths cultures had only a piece of the puzzle which is why they never summoned Kukulkan back. He figures out the puzzle and Kukulkan appears and says he will lead and rule man kind. When Kirk refuses and says that people are no longer ruled, Kukulkan threatens to destroy all mankind.
This left an opening for Spock on the Enterprise to break free of the bubble and attack Kukulkan's ship. Meanwhile Kirk is able to free other creatures trapped on Kukulkan's ship, one a dangerous cat like animal. But just as the animal is about to attack Kukulkan, Kirk uses a hypo to knock it out. Kukulkan then realizes that while he has much to offer humans, they are better off on their own, to learn from their mistakes.
