Today I went to San Rafael California to watch a special screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Following the show, William Shatner came on stage and told us stories of his past and present and answered some audience questions. The only other time I have seen Shatner was in Hollywood where I saw a special screening of the Star Trek documentary The Captains which he starred in and also attended.
He told us stories of how he would prank Deforest Kelley, or how he got pulled over for speeding once while wearing his captain's uniform. He is 88 years old but on stage I would guess he was still in his 60s. The topic of his age came up and he mentioned he was looking into stem cell treatments, though I couldn't tell if he was serious of joking.
I don't think I would have gone to this event if it wasn't for my year of trek but it is a memory I will cherish for years to come.
