The Mind's Eye

TNG Season 4 Episode 24
Air Date: May 27th, 1991

On his way to Risa for some shore leave by shuttlecraft, Lt. Cmdr. Geordi La Forge is captured by Romulans. They use his visor interface to torture him with horrific images. Eventually he is brainwashed and sent back to the Enterprise. There is a female Romulan that seems to be the mastermind to this operation. She is hidden in the shadows but her voice is clearly that of Lt. Tasha Yar.

The Enterprise is working with Ambassador Kell to help deal with the claim that the Federation is supplying weapons to a rebel group. They find the rebels are equipped with Type 3 Phaser Rifles but detailed analysis shows that the power source of these rifles is of Romulan design. Meanwhile Data discovers an unusual transmission somewhere near the Enterprise. After a few more uses Data realizes that it is a signal designed for Geordi's visor.

Geordi was brainwashed to kill the Klingon Governor but Data's discovery was able to circumvent that scenario. Data narrows it down to either Captain Picard or Ambassador Kell as the only two people close enough to Geordi in each of the occurrences.
