The Next Generation: Season Six

Season Six did not disappoint. There were episodes that as a teenager I enjoyed but never truly understood. This time around I was able to appreciate some of the messages the show was trying to convey. Watching it in parallel with DS9 gave me an interesting perspective as well since the DS9 premier was right after the episode Chain of Command where Captain Picard was captured and tortured by the Cardassians.

The characters of the show didn't have much in the way of character development. The most notable ones was Data getting angry in the finale and the change of clothes for Counselor Troi. In the episode Chain of Command, the Enterprise gets a new captain and he makes a comment to Troi that he wants her in uniform when she is on the bridge. Other then in casual scenarios we almost exclusively see her wearing a uniform from that episode til the series finale.

This season did not follow the red shirt meme, though red is gold in TNG so it could be argued that the meme holds true. The tally is 1 red, 1 blue and 4 gold.
